One of the most sought-after pieces of information in the Human Design is definitely the incarnation cross!
With my analysis experience of more than 10,000 charts, I will explain in the simplest way possible what is incarnation cross, in order for you to understand what it is and how it is defining your life.

What is incarnation Cross? Explains it in simplest way.
-What is Incarnation Cross in human design?

Imagine that the Earth is a round cake, and everyone has a piece of it to represent.
Your incarnation cross is the piece of the Earth you were assigned to represent in this life. Without you, the cake would be incomplete.
-Is incarnation Cross your Destiny?
People have different perception on the word “destiny”, but I think incarnation cross do equal to destiny.
In Human Design, Incarnation cross is more of a “what you’re here to do ” thing more than “you’re going to have a successful/failed life” thing. So:
If you think destiny is the process of life (what you do), then incarnation cross = destiny.
If you think of destiny as the result of life (whether I succeed or fail, how many kids will I have, how much money will I earn, how long will I live), then incarnation cross ≠ destiny.
Depending on your perception on the word “destiny”, you can decide on your own.
-What is the benefit of knowing your incarnation cross?
Understanding what you are designed to do in this life will make you more grounded, more confident, and willing to accept and trusting your natural behaviour.
This is because most of our behaviours and actions are actually caused by the energy gates you have, which means that when you understand and accepting your design, you will recognise your behaviours and actions and no longer feel that what you are doing is wrong, impulsive, or chaotic.
You can put some blame and responsibilities on the gates. Sure, that doesn’t mean it gives you the right to hurt anyone.
To give you an extreme example: if you are designed to be very sexual, then going to a dating app is the right thing for you. Without the support of incarnation Cross, you could spend the rest of your life feeling like a promiscuous, dysfunctional person. In fact, No, you’re just doing what you are designed to do.
-How many incarnation cross are there in total?
Simply put, there are 192 kinds.
But if we want to break it down, there are actually a total of 2,368 kinds.
In other words,
“the Cake” is cut into 2,368 pieces, and each on us represent a certain piece.

In there, look at the table and you will see your incarnation cross written there (See image) .

-Right Angle, Juxtaposition, Left angle... what do they mean?
There are 3 major types of crosses: Right Angle, juxtaposition and Left Angle.
Right Angle: The destiny journey is self-absorbed, it is within, it does not necessarily require interaction with others to come to realization and live out your cross.
Juxtaposition: A very fixed, stubborn “gate spokesperson” who performs the ultimate of a gate. You are like a “primary color” in the palette.
Left Angle: Influential, global, outward looking. You need to interact with others to come to realization and live out your cross.
-a shorter way to say incarnation cross?
I usually name client’s incarnation cross with the word after the “of”.
Using the above example, instead of saying the full incarnation cross name (The Right Angle Cross of the Four Ways), you could simplified it to “Cross of the Four Ways”.
This is just my personal work habit and I do not suggest that you should be as lazy as I am.
A brief discussion of what Incarnation cross does for you and its importantance
-Why is it important to understand your Incarnation cross?
Understanding your incarnation Cross gives your life a “I’m here to do this” realization. This information gives you a very strong foundation for you to build your life confidently, so that when you are affected by someone’s words, you can always go back to that foundation to get the confidence to fight back and defend behaviors that are born within you.
The ultimate goal is for you to be able to be confident in who you are, and to reject the negative influences that come your way.
This confidence in defending yourself allows you to remain true to the behavior you were designed to do.
-It is right and proper for you to follow the behavior described in your cross.
For example, your Cross is the “Right Angle Cross of Penetration” with Gate 54 as the main gate, and you are designed to be ambitious who always wants to go and keep yourself growing and developing.
Therefore, when you discover a high profile boss/customer, it is right for you to close ranks, flatter, and offer service with a smile on your face.
If your coworkers hate you for it, you won’t be affected by their words because you know you’re just being yourself, you’re just allowing your body to do what it’s naturally meant to do, what the system is designed to do.
At the same time, anyone around you should also have the freedom to act on their design and cross without any judgement.
We all have the freedom to be ourselves.
This is the most beautiful thing that the cross can give you: the confidence to not be influenced by the outside world.
This is much more important than the common perception of wanting to know your fate, are you going to be rich, how many kids will you have blah blah blah.
It is far more important for us to have the confidence to not only defend our natural behaviors, but also allowing others to act on their.
-Is Incarnation cross an important piece of information in Human Design?
From my point of view, Incarnation Cross is very important.
Not only because it explains information that is very much like “destiny” that everyone wants to know, but it is also a very good guide for me to take my client into the deeper secrets of Human Design.

Another reason I think it’s so important is that most people don’t have a solid foundation of knowledge about themselves, so they always have “unstable courage” to live out their own lives and then get knocked back down again when they meet people saying a few words about them.
Therefore, I think it is very, very useful for us to have a permanent foundation of self-knowledge and self-confidence through knowing our Incarnation Cross. After all, in the world full of negative forces, it is better to give each of you an “Armor that fits”.
